S&M – not what you are thinking

On Friday we decided after a tough week in the office, coupled with this insulting excuse for a summer England is having, we needed a long lunch and some comforting food. We decided to head to S&M or Sausage and Mash cafe. There are various locations around London but for lunch we went to the one at Smithfield market. The main focus is obviously on sausage and mash with a huge range of sausages and different types of mash.

The great thing about S&M is that their meal no. 5 is called the “gluten free gluton”. It consists of two gf sausages (lamb and mint and lamb and rosemary) with traditional mash and gravy (all the mash and gravy is gf). The meal is delish and it is nice to be able to order bangers and mash with all of my colleagues.

The restaurant is great for those visiting London from overseas who want the traditional sausage and mash experience but can’t normally get it safely. One of the chain is conveniently located at the end of Portobello markets in Notting Hill if you are doing the full tourist thing. It’s also a bargain, with the full meal costing around £9.
